A montage, really, rather than a proper video, combining audio, a few stills, and video from this week's return visit to Batek friends at Taman Negara (my first videos of Batek, using an iPad -- I don't own a videocam). It was a splendid few days... walking in the forest, digging for yams, fishing, and we got meat from the hunt as well. I took a boat and surveyed groups along the Tembeling, caught up on the news and kinship and saw some people who I hadn't seen in 15 years. Children were adorable. The importance of making such visits was really brought home to me when I heard that old ta'Kangkong (aka eyTenhel) died just three days after my visit to his camp in 2010 (recounted here and here).
