Damai Children's Home

I joined a photoshoot last week at the Damai Children's Home in Kuang. The official photographer was H. Linho, and the creative director (who kindly invited me along) was Cynthia Lye. They were taking photos to publicise the work of the Budimas Charitable Foundation, which supports the children's home. Of course I've seen photographers at work before, but never had observed from behind the scenes how a "real" pro sets up his shots. For me, a great learning experience: you read about these things -- the technical parameters, the props, ways to direct the flow of light and shadow -- but I don't think there's a substitute for being "on set" and watching how it all comes together. And a real treat watching the kids' responses and emotions.
